The Curious Career of Phil Stromberg
Proper Protection Education
When I grow up I want to be_______. Most kids don’t write in “insurance agent”, I know I didn’t. At age 16 I realized “play third base in the major leagues” was out because I couldn’t hit a curve ball. By 18 playing professional soccer in Europe was eliminated because, well, there were just too many better players. Guitar player for the Rolling Stones was also out because there wasn’t an opening (okay, and the better players thing too).
I was offered a one year “trial” in the family insurance agency after graduating from North Central College. I thought it was worth a one year try and I’m glad I did. Over the course of that year I learned there are endless good people in the industry striving to do the right thing. The opportunities to help others are limitless. Walking someone through a serious claim situation, taking the confusion out of insurance and identifying coverage gaps has many non-monetary rewards.
Buying a house is a series of exciting steps. What color will we paint the bedroom? The basement has so much potential! Where will we put the kid’s swing set? It’s also full of “adult” responsibilities like responding to a counter offer, gathering tax returns and paystubs, completing applications, tweaking a budget (realizing my new “toy” will have to wait) and even a few “oh my, what have I gotten myself into?” moments. I understand because I’ve been there! In addition to your realtor other professionals are there to help…a mortgage professional, home inspector, attorney and, yes, an insurance professional.
On your lengthy “to-do” list is obtain hazard insurance. With possibly dollars and time stretched thin it’s tempting to find the cheapest and quick policy you can and tell yourself you will give it more attention later. Hopefully you will before it’s too late. Since 1985 I’ve helped hundreds of first time homeowners not only find the right coverage but educated them about the process, available coverage options and share a few loss prevention tips. Not only will I answer your insurance questions I will give you questions you never would have thought you NEED to ask.

Three Steps to Clearing Your Clutter After You've Cleaned
When cleaning the attic, de-cluttering the garage, or emptying the storage locker, you may find yourself thinking "what should I do with all of this stuff?" While tossing your extra belongings in the trash bin is one option, it may not be your best bet. After all, some of the items may still have value. Plus, with an increased concern for going green you may be reluctant to dump more junk in the local landfill.
Fortunately, there is a better way. Just follow these three steps:
1. Take four plastic storage tubs and mark them with the words "sell," "donate," "recycle," and "trash."
2. Identify those items that you no longer want, need or use... Read More
8 Tips for Great Spring Curb Appeal
Curb appeal is important if you want to sell your home quickly. In fact, improving your home's curb appeal is one of the best ways you can help your home stand apart from the competition.
1. Take a photo. The best way to look at your home through the eyes of a potential buyer is to take pictures of it. Take one from directly across the street and others from angles on both sides of the home. Honestly compare your pictures with those of... Read More
Where do we begin? By saying we love our realtor is an understatement! Lisa Wenzel is not only our realtor, but a true friend. Lisa and her staff worked so very hard to help our dream of becoming homeowners come true! Whether it was pulling Lisa out in the middle of a snow storm at 7pm to see a property, or her listening to us complain about the possibility of us never finding the perfect property, she was always there! Lisa always had our best interests at hand! She fought to find us EXACTLY what we were looking for. Lisa is one of the most honest, straight forward people you will ever meet. She makes sure that the home you are purchasing lives up to your standards and meets your needs! Oh and let's not forget to mention if you are selling your property she will be upfront and honest and make sure you get top dollar for your home! Lisa will soon have an engraved bar stool at our bar in our mancave! It's the least we can do for her, after all she made our dream a reality!
Thanks again for all you do!

Builders List Popular Home Features
for 2014
The National Association of Home Builders asked builders across the country which feature they would be most likely to include in the homes they build this year. Luxury add-ons were missing from the list, but features that added to the livability of a home were at the top. Most builders would fit a master bedroom walk-in closet into their floor plans.
